Since 2012 I have worked with digital design on various projects, spanning from small web sites to large web applications. As well as keeping up with the latest trends in design, technology and innovation.

Take a look at my Curriculum Vitae and past experiences.

“AI is poised to drive 160% increase in data center power demand by 2030.”

A lot of companies are implementing AI too fast. There are a lot of ethical issues concerning the training and use of these technologies at the moment—high energy and water usage being two of them.

I do not use these technologies in my design if not executed more responsible.

Work

Present 2021-today
Senior UX Designer at Knowit Experience, Oslo
From 08.2021 til today
I am helping businesses and organizations to make exceptional digital experiences for their customers and users.

As well as being a consultant, I am educating myself on sustainable design and technology as well. It is a subject close to my heart, and I am so happy that I can educate others on the matter.

Past 2014-2021
Senior UX Designer at Fremtind Forsikring, Oslo
01.2019-07.2021, two years and seven months
I was working in a small, and devoted, team on an app called (Smart car). By giving the user insight into their own driving pattern we intend to lower the number of accidents on Norwegian roads. Collaborating with a behavioural psychologist we encouraged our users, through the app, to use safe and environmental friendly means of transportation.

Digital sale of health insurance was also a prominent project I worked on, were we tried to make the connection between the customer and product clearer by communicating the reasoning behind the recommendations. Using their income and life situation as the connection between the two.

I did also contribute to our design forum to further develop the brand and make it more cohesive. To advance Fremtind as an insurance provider I was participating in company wide activities—influencing them to be more creative, innovative and sustainable.
Interaction Designer at SpareBank 1 Forsikring, Oslo
09.2017-12.2018, one year and four months
I was working in a big team developing a new tool for insurance advisors. To shape the flow and layout of the application I focused on the dialogue between the advisor and the customer. I did also contribute to a design forum to further develop the brand and make it more cohesive.
Digital Designer at OXX, Oslo
03.2014-09.2017, three years and six months
As a part of an UX team I was delivering beautiful designs for websites and applications for a variety of clients—Redd Barna, Grieg Investor, Den Norske Legeforeningen and Voice Norge AS to name a few. I was working both as a Digital Designer and Interaction Designer—depending on the project—working closely with both the client and our in-house developers.

Intern 2012-2013
Junior UX Designer (internship) at Caplin, London
05.2013-10.2013, six months
Caplin is a web trading technology company creating and maintaining online platforms for trading. My role at Caplin was to improve upon existing interfaces for trading applications and to make suggestions for new interfaces and ways of interacting with these complex systems.
Visual Designer (internship) at Keebo, London
02.2013-04.2013, three months
Keebo`s focus is an online receipt manager where users can upload and manage their receipts. Together with their in-house designer I got to take part in redesigning their online application. Other design tasks I was given was to make some suggestions for a new logo and to do illustrations for an animated video. I also did some filming and photography which they were going to use for marketing.
Design and content (internship) at Tag Studio, Gjøvik
01.2012-06.2012, four months
Tag Studio is a digital communications agency that delivers and maintains websites for large companies in Norway. I was an intern there for five months, doing video production and web design to create content for their clients websites and marketing across social media. But I got another two months as a freelancer.

Other work
Shop assistant, Factory worker and Postman
2006-2011
Shop assistant at Shell Bensinstasjon, Shop assistant at Europris, Factory worker at Nortura, Postman at Posten Norge AS.

Education

Bachelor and Master
MA in User Experience Design, Kingston University, London, United Kingdom
08.2012-08.2013, one year
To learn more about design, and to better understand how to design for digital and other media, I enrolled User Experience Design at Kingston University. I gradually became aware that it was not what I designed that mattered, but the user and her experience, as it is the user that is in the centre at every experience.

As I experimented with digital and physical designs I found that the experience with the product got a lot more interesting when you could combine the two. As a result of this I wrote an essay describing the product called Nike Fuel Band, the predecessor to FitBit. I found out that, to make a product that elevates the physical experience, and the digital, you need an interdisciplinary team.

With that in mind I set out to discover the possibilities of working interdisciplinary in all the other projects during the year at Kingston. I made a prototype for a game called Project Raven which combined the use of a drone with an interactive game. I also made a motion-sensing parachute game, with the use of sensors sewed in a small parachute connected to some digital characters on a screen to make a toy for kids focused around physical activity.

However, working that closely with other disciplines became a bit harder at an internship. I wrote my thesis at a company making trading applications, where part of the assignment was the body of work consisting of different interfaces for trading applications. The subject of the thesis was: "Is it feasible to apply the design methodology called flat design on complex applications, such as a trading platform, while retaining the same level of understandability as previous skeuomorphic based applications?".
Bachelor in Media Production, Gjøvik University College, Gjøvik, Norway
08.2009-06.2012, three years
In the course of three years at Gjøvik University College I got to experiment in lots of different media and multimedia production tools—and I got to practice visual communication. Doing everything from video, film, photography, animation, design and digital productions—storytelling was always a key component.

I wrote an awesome essay in History of Photography and Pictorial Communication based around the truthfulness of a photograph. I interviewed Niklas Rønningen about the importance of privacy in social media. I recorded and edited both a music video, skate videos and a short film. I rendered a model of a house in the course Modelling in 3D and I practiced media production at an internship at Tag Studio.

A letter for you

The whole story
Design is what I have done my whole life. It started with drawing and Lego, but I do now use a lot more tools, both digital and analog. Throughout my life I have tried a variety of artistic and illustrative methods, even sound, which have made my area of expertise vast. However, it is design that I found the most interesting, which is why I went to study User Experience Design in London. In my studies I combined different disciplines to understand the correlation between the design of interactions and the users experience to create the best products.

Coming from a school with a practical take on education—I went straight from being a junior and landed a job as a Digital Designer at OXX. As I started working I quickly got to understand what kind of result a close collaboration between a designer and a developer yield. My abilities to understand technical specifications and limitations developed simultaneously as the design got implemented beautifully. I have since then worked on various web based projects, spanning from small web sites to large web applications.

On larger projects, and larger teams, at SpareBank 1 Forsikring I had to collaborate with even more disciplines. As the communication between the various team members strengthened—the quality of the end product increased. I do now speak warmly to others about multidisciplinary, and even interdisciplinary collaboration, to create autonomous teams working by a set of objectives and key results.

Objectives and key results makes for a better understanding of the goal and gives the team an opportunity to adapt and improve the process. At Fremtind we used this method together with the creation of hypotheses in the development of an app called Smartbil. With a behavioral psychologist on our team we tried to change peoples driving habits, with the goal of making the roads in Norway safer.

I am now a Senior UX Designer at Knowit Experience Oslo specialised in digital design, with a vast understanding for interaction and UX design. I have also joined a group of developers and designers to use sensors, lights and other stuff to make "things". Maybe to make better interactions, or just to make something interesting to interact with. I do this mainly to expand my skills to include not only digital interfaces, but also physical, in user experience design.

In Fremtind I took part in activities involving thinking about insurance in sustainable ways. It is a form of creativity and exploration that I find to be exiting. This new direction in thinking is something I want to explore further.
I want to expand on my interest for sustainability and apply a planet-centric mindset in design and business—rather than just focusing on human interaction.
Instead of making better things I want to make better ways of doing things for the planet, the climate, and all the inhabitants.

from me with love for the planet, animals and people ✿

What have I done?

I have worked on various digital projects, spanning from small web sites, to large web applications. Check out some of my designs!
