A letter for you
Coming from a school with a practical take on education—I went straight from being a junior and landed a job as a Digital Designer at OXX. As I started working I quickly got to understand what kind of result a close collaboration between a designer and a developer yield. My abilities to understand technical specifications and limitations developed simultaneously as the design got implemented beautifully. I have since then worked on various web based projects, spanning from small web sites to large web applications.
On larger projects, and larger teams, at SpareBank 1 Forsikring I had to collaborate with even more disciplines. As the communication between the various team members strengthened—the quality of the end product increased. I do now speak warmly to others about multidisciplinary, and even interdisciplinary collaboration, to create autonomous teams working by a set of objectives and key results.
Objectives and key results makes for a better understanding of the goal and gives the team an opportunity to adapt and improve the process. At Fremtind we used this method together with the creation of hypotheses in the development of an app called Smartbil. With a behavioral psychologist on our team we tried to change peoples driving habits, with the goal of making the roads in Norway safer.
I am now a Senior UX Designer at Knowit Experience Oslo specialised in digital design, with a vast understanding for interaction and UX design. I have also joined a group of developers and designers to use sensors, lights and other stuff to make "things". Maybe to make better interactions, or just to make something interesting to interact with. I do this mainly to expand my skills to include not only digital interfaces, but also physical, in user experience design.
In Fremtind I took part in activities involving thinking about insurance in sustainable ways. It is a form of creativity and exploration that I find to be exiting. This new direction in thinking is something I want to explore further.
